MEET THE INSTRUCTORS

RENZO RETANA

Renzo began his career in 2005 after completing advanced infantry training and joining the 2nd Battalion, 5th Marines at Camp Pendleton. During his early years of service, he completed multiple overseas deployments, including assignments with a Marine Expeditionary Unit and combat operations in Ramadi, Iraq.

In 2009, Renzo transitioned into leadership and instruction roles, serving as Chief Instructor for the 5th Marines Marksmanship Training Unit before joining the Field Medical Training Battalion. There, he trained Navy Corpsmen to operate effectively in high-pressure tactical and combat environments.

In 2013, Renzo entered the field of recruiting and talent development. After leading recruiting operations in Modesto and Stockton, he was selected as Assistant Recruiting Instructor for the Sacramento region.

Known for helping struggling teams regain focus and performance, he became a trusted mentor for recruiters operating under intense pressure and demanding goals.

In 2021, Renzo was selected for Recruiting Station Los Angeles as Assistant Recruiter Instructor and Operations Chief. In one of the nation’s most competitive recruiting environments, he led recruiter development, operational management, and team performance initiatives.

Today, Renzo serves as an Officer Selection Assistant, where he identifies and mentors future Marine Corps officers. His work focuses on developing leadership, resilience, discipline, and character in candidates preparing for Officer Candidates School.

Through mentorship and example, he helps shape the next generation of leaders.

PAIGE ROSE

Paige Rose’s foundation in leadership was forged through one of the most demanding pipelines in the world. A four-year Division I softball athlete at George Washington University, she commissioned as a Marine Officer upon graduation in 2017 and immediately entered The Basic School in Quantico, Virginia — a rigorous six-month program centered on leadership, high-stakes decision-making, and mission execution at the platoon level.

She went on to complete Naval Aviation Flight Training in Pensacola, Florida — widely regarded as one of the most comprehensive flight programs in the world — and was selected to fly the CH-53E Super Stallion, one of the Marine Corps’ most versatile and demanding aircraft.

Over the course of her operational career, Paige served as Future Operations Officer for Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 361 (HMH-361) at MCAS Miramar, where she led planning for large-scale exercises, cross-country operations, and multi-week detachments. During a 2022 deployment to Okinawa, Japan, she earned the designation of Aircraft Commander and served as lead flight planner for bilateral military operations with both the Japanese Ground Self-Defense Force and the Republic of Korea Marine Corps — coordinating complex, multi-national missions in dynamic, high-pressure environments.

In 2024, Paige transitioned to lead the Sacramento Officer Selection Team, where she identified, recruited, and prepared the next generation of Marine Officers — developing candidates mentally, physically, and emotionally for the demands of leadership under pressure.

Today, Paige brings that rare combination of elite athletic experience and military leadership to the world of collegiate athletics. She partners with Division I programs to close the gap between athletic talent and leadership capacity — helping coaches build cultures where accountability, communication, and shared purpose drive sustained winning.
